We know even the mainstream cinemas have moved into a more ’boutique’ offering these days, but we like to think we’re still ahead of the curve.

Housed in the ground floor of an 18th century Malthouse, the cinema is hidden behind our take on a Wirksworth speakeasy, with cocktail booths and a menu to match. Pull aside the velvet curtains and enter our auditorium, mixing sofas, armchairs and vintage cinema seats rescued from the Savoy Cinema in Nottingham. And with digital projection and 7:1 Dolby Surround sound, we’re up on technology as well as style.

Every seat has its own side table as well as at-seat ordering, so if you fancy an Old Fashioned with your Bogart, or a Martini with your Bond, you’re just a few taps away from it being delivered to your seat.

And if you really want to make a night of it, we have our very own ‘royal box’ designed by local interior legends, Blackpop. The Blackpop Box houses a sofa for two, complete with every luxury you could shake a gilded stick at, with the option of up to two additional armchairs – and even cocktails on arrival! (Crowns and tiaras are optional)

Popcorn only goes so far, so why not book a table and dine with us before your film? We serve a tight menu but that means what we serve, we’re good at. Try one of our freshly baked pizettas with goats cheese, marinated mushrooms and thyme, or our cured anchovies with lime zest and fresh chilli. Wash them down with one of our selected bottles of organic or biodynamic wines or our range of Buxton Ales. Or push the boat out and indulge in our cocktail menu, where we focus on serving the classics as they should be served. Serious drinks, for serious drinkers.
